I woke up on Monday morning to snow on the ground! It's still here but it is quickly melting. I almost got my wish- which was to see Salzburg covered in snow..maybe someday. (I hiked up that small mountain the other day.)
This past week has been very laid back with really nice weather! I like to walk and hangout by the river in between classes. It's nice and relaxing!
It's always worth it to take a peek at the view from the rooftop of the classroom building.. even when it's not always sunny out.
The cooking class was totally worth it. We learned how to make Beef Goulash soup, Semmelknodel (bread dumplings), Kaiserschmarren (my favorite) , and Apfelmus (apple sauce) YUM!
The kaiserschmarren is basically a very fluffy pancake. Austrians typically will have apple sauce and plums with it. I'd love to make it sometime and add a scoop of ice cream to it with strawberries.
Bread dumplings.
Beef Goulash and the Kaiserschmarren basically done.
deliciousness. and now I have the recipe so I can make these meals anytime when I'm home!
It's time for me to think about what else I really want to see while I'm here. The next few weeks are packed with traveling so this will probably be one of my last relaxing weekends in Salzburg. I'm thinking of taking the cable car up one of the mountains nearby, and making my way up to the fortress. I MUST do that soon.
I think I'll have a day to myself tomorrow to explore in the northern part of the city which I haven't really done yet, then I'll head to the park near the Hellbrunn palace.
