Salt Mine Bertesgaden

22.3.2014 trip to Salt Mine Bertesgaden

We dressed up in miner's clothing when we got there. Then we hopped on a train and headed down through a dark tunnel to where the action took place. We enjoyed our time on the train, walking through the mines, taking a boat across an underground lake, and taking the slide!

It's hard to see but thats the slide we took down!

It was really hilarious because there was a large group of people from Thailand also touring and they were so friendly and wanted so many pictures with us! IT was like they're never really seen americans before.  They jumped in our pictures, and one woman even grabbed my arm and her friend took her picture with me. ha ha!

Obersalzburg & hike

So I was wrong about going to Eagle's Nest, it doesn't open until May. Today we went to the Obersalzburg museum instead. (It's located a few miles south of Eagle's Nest).  When we got back me and a few friends went on a hike just across the river.

Long Week

This week has been really nice but exhausting since we had all of our exams right when we got back from Vienna.  Today is Thursday and it was 68 degrees out. I really enjoyed laying by the river for a minutes to soak in the sun.  Salzburg is blooming all over. Unfortunately it looks like next week will cool down to the 40's with some rain, and maybe even some snow. Yikes!

After going for a run, Deutsch class, and laying by the river Christine and I went to Billa to get groceries.

 Graffiti of Mozart.
I really need to start trying more chocolate while I'm here.. this stuff is delicious!

Tomorrow my WWII class is headed to Obersalzburg, aka Eagle's Nest, (Hitler's hideout.)  It's a half hour south of here in Germany.  I'm very excited to walk through a lot of history, and to take in the view at the top! When we get back a few of us want to do a short hike right next to the city. Should be a good day!

Hello Zurich

So we just walked in the door from our train ride back from Zurich, and our short time there did not disappoint! It was one of the most beautiful (and expensive) places I have ever been to.

Yesterday we got on the train at 7:30 and arrived around 1:00.  Anya's father met up with us and dropped us off at the hotel..  After we dropped off our luggage Isabel, Jenna, and I walked around while Anya went to see her family.  Everything about Zurich is beautiful.. the people, fashion, the buildings, river, swans, stands, shops, and the cars....

Sent out a few post cards at the train station :-)

View from our hotel room towards the city center.

We were trying to be artsy with the confetti.
